The 30 Beauty Project: Week 7

There is absolutely nothing you can see or touch that makes you beautiful.

The prettiest girl in the world is the one with the most confidence.

Age: 30

Occupation/Passion/What do you do?

Bank Teller

What would you tell your 15 year old self about

Beauty one day you’ll look back and laugh, it’s not what you thought it was. Beauty is a smile and confidence, not the latest trends, makeup and hair

Fashion is much easier when you are 15, have fun

Love there is no way to confince you that love, everlasting, forever, is not possible at 15 so just go ahead and fall. The heart aches will teach you more than anything class.

Sex the consequences are endless and it’s just not worth it.

Family will always be there no matter what, even if right now they seem like the enemy. They are secretly your only true ally

Friends are something you have to work on but the good ones will always be there

Body Image so many things about your appearance will change over the years, work on your soul and you outter image will come

Fitness it’s so much easier to lay in front of the tv or computer but so much better to get out and get active. Find something you love and stick with it.

Nutrition  is so important, your mom doesn’t force you to eat your vegtables as some kind of weird torture.

What was the one thing you were scared of when you turned 30?

That I wouldn’t matter anymore, I give a lot to my family, especially my kids and more and more I feel myself slipping away. My wants are smaller and more insignificant. I feel as I get older I can’t be selfish anymore and some times that part of me needs to come out. I want to matter.

What’s the best lesson you’ve learned over the years about beauty?

It’s not about your clothes or your shoes or makeup or hair. There is absolutely nothing you can see or touch that makes you beautiful. The prettiest girl in the world is the one with the most confidence.

What do you consider beautiful about yourself?

The family I am raising. My girls are beautiful and every achievement they make I know I had a part in it and it makes me feel accomplished and beautiful.

What do you consider beautiful about your best friend, which she may not know about herself?

She’s fearless and always says what’s on her mind.

Have you had a moment where you realized beauty may be something other than what the media portrays it as?

Probably around the time I had my first daughter, when I was 25. My body changed so much and so did my hormones. Everything I did couldn’t counteract it and I lost a lot of my self-confidence. I put a lot of stock in my appearance and had to learn a very harsh life lesson, that everything wasn’t about me and I had to find a new way to view myself and find a new worth. I realized it wasn’t about outter beauty and found a way to be confident again. A lot of that had to do with raising my daughter and teaching her things and finding things we both enjoyed. When my second daughter came, I was 28, it wasn’t as big as a shock and I hope I can pass on a different way to look at yourself to my girls.
